A weekend in Bucharest 🇷🇴

A post wedding pit stop to a city I am very fond of.

The city has an increasingly interesting food scene, it’s not all cabbage and boiled pork here. I sat around the kitchen counter of friend and chef Adi Hadean of Attic Lab - sadly a restaurant everyone in the world should eat at, which isn’t actually open to the public.

We discuss the change in appetite, hipster menus and Adi’s new PHD in Romanian food history and food science, the plight of owning restaurants, the increasing taxes and the decline in appetite for real fine dining. “There just isn’t the market for people to spend 500€ a head to experience what is inside my brain.”

The demise of fine dining aside, here are some spectacular recommendations from the Romanian capital.

TOP TIP: If you are flying out of Bucharest in the afternoon head to the Therme Spa after your checkout to kill some time, it's absolutely wild but very relaxing. Think Butlin's but for wellness, you can watch a movie in the Hollywood themed sauna, swim in mineral pools, scrub yourself silly with exfoliants and read your book under infrared lights, then pop in a 5 min cab to the airport.
